Following a string of SOLD OUT Storytime Sundays from Bright Group & The Doodle Bar, Sunday 17th May saw Sheffield nominated Rebecca Ashdown & Children In Need Illustrator Julia Patton leading a host of creative activities with 30 battersea families. After an introduction from Bright M.D Vicki Willden-Lebrecht, Rebecca Ashdown read her author/illustrated book Bob and Flo & the Missing Bucket (by Oxford University Press) then gave the children a chance to make their own Bob or Flo (and a bucket!).
The second hour saw Julia Patton reading the first page of her Fat Fox Children In Need book Fi-Rex! – a world exclusive of the ‘consequences’ inspired story, contributed to by One Direction, Sir Paul McCartney, Kate Moss & many other celebrities. Following the Jamie & Jules Oliver exclusive, Julia illustrated alongside the group of children, creating different dinosaur characters & new story lines.
The kids were also introduced to a TV show created by Bright Group’s Sue Hendra on Channel 5 Milkshake, Wanda & The Alien – it was clearly already a firm favourite in every household.
Events like Storytime Sunday bridge the gap between Creatives and their key audiences – driving discoverability, supporting publishers & encouraging creative community hubs.
Our next Storytime Sunday is 28th June – enjoy post-Fathersday creative events with Charlie Alder & Laura Hughes! Book HERE.
